United States: Anti-Israel masked protesters are presently demonstrating at one of the gates of Columbia University, singing “Free Palestine” and holding banners that read Ivy League school to “divest from death” to the students who are on their way to their first-class meetings.

The demonstrations follow a prior set of protests that took place at the New York City-based university this past spring and which garnered worldwide media attention and over 100 arrests.
The anti-Israel activity also comes days after Hamas executed six hostages, among them 23-year-old Israeli-American Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Fox News reported.
Each has been imprisoned by Hamas, and the organization still detains nearly 100 others – since the pair conducted suicide bombings in southern Israel on October 7, 2023.

One protester was recording the event on his video camera when he was arrested on Tuesday, and other demonstrators were pushing the barrier and coming into a tussle.

Another man was then arrested near Barnard College, which is Columbia University’s enemy, across the street.
The first protest was a civil protest where the protesters were simply marching around in a circle on the sidewalk near one of Columbia’s entrances in Upper Manhattan.
The demonstrations began peacefully, with protesters walking around in a circle on a sidewalk near one of Columbia’s entrances in Upper Manhattan.
According to the group Columbia Students for Justice in Palestine, “We refuse to live in a world where the mass murder of Palestinians is normal, acceptable, and profitable. Columbia University is complicit in genocide,” as Fox News reported.
“Their investments in weapons manufacturers & defense contractors, companies such as Lockheed Martin, are fueling the genocide,” it continued.
Moreover, it added, “As we begin our new semester, students in Gaza have no universities to return to. Instead of listening to the student body, Columbia University is doubling down. We will not stop, and we will not rest until Columbia divests from apartheid and genocide,” and “This is just the beginning.”
A protester was holding a placard that read “Long live Hind’s Hall.” In late April, anti-Israel protesters stormed and seized Hamilton Hall, which is within Columbia University.
The group then put a banner over the facility,ály calling it “Hind’s Hall,” in memory of Hind Rajab, a 6-year-old who died during the fighting between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
