United States: Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) on Sunday said that there is “absolutely no chance” that former President Reagan would be supporting Trump if the latter was alive, the latter in reference to her increasing attacks on Trump.

Cheney, in an interview with ABC News, said, “There is absolutely no chance that Ronald Reagan would be supporting Donald Trump. Donald Trump doesn’t stand for any of the things that Ronald Reagan did, and it’s another place where I would urge my Republican colleagues, in the Congress, but across the country, to really look at Donald Trump’s policies, to really look at the danger that he presents, to look at, what he was willing to do to stay in a power,” the Hill reported.
Cheney, who became one of Trump’s biggest critics after the January 6 Capitol insurrection, endorsed VP Harris last week, claiming this would be her first vote for the Democratic party.

On Sunday, Cheney said that Trump’s policy stances, as well as attempts to stay in power after his 2020 election loss, reveal a “firm rejection,” not just of “traditional Republican policies, but at the Constitutional order on which this country depends.”
She lauded Harris’s nomination acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention, stating it was a speech that Reagan or former President George Bush could have given.
She said, “It’s very much an embrace and an understanding of the exceptional nature of this great nation, a love of America, a recognition that America is a special place, a recognition that we all have to work together to ensure that,” the Hill reported.
“You contrast that with what we hear from Donald Trump again on a daily basis, that America is a failing nation, that America is a laughing stock,” she added.
Within a day of her coming out with the statement endorsing Harris to become the vice president, Cheney’s father, the former Republican vice president Dick Cheney, also added his voice behind the vice president.
In a statement, the former vice president emphasized that they “have a duty” to support the Constitution as citizens of America, irrespective of the political affiliations that they hold.
“He tried to steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him. He can never be trusted with power again,” he added.
