United States: A few hours after an attempted assassination of Ex-President Donald Trump over the weekend, Elon Musk went online on his X social networking site to post a thinking emoji and comment that “no one is even trying to assassinate” the Democratic president and vice president.

Moreover, during the anti-Muslim riots in the UK incited by fake news – Musk declared that “civil war is inevitable” in the country.
And when some anonymous X user manipulated data to present the increase of shady voter registrations in three US states, Musk retweeted the false post and described it as “extremely concerning.”

All three posts received immediate backlash from public officials who criticized Musk’s words as irresponsible and misleading.
Since his words were viewed millions of times and shared thousands of times, they evidence the power of one of the planet’s leading influential people to whip up fear, hate, and lies during politically sensitive times around the globe, AP News reported.
That is even more true today, given that he owns the social platform that used to be Twitter, which means he gets to decide how content is delivered to its audience.
Musk and his influence
Musk’s recent posts to his 200 million followers and the absence of adequate precaution measures on his site could make him manipulate public trust as Election Day in the US nears, which is concerning.
He even recently endorsed Trump in his presidential campaign and has more personal skin in politics, to the extent that he has signed up to chair a government efficiency commission if Trump is reelected.
During an event on X Monday evening, Trump mentioned Musk and celebrated the tech billionaire’s support for him, calling the latter his “friend. ”
At the very least, experts and election officials fear that Musk can nudge people into doubting the integrity of the vote, AP News reported.
However, they are also concerned that his words could prompt threats and violence against election workers or candidates.
