United States: In the forthcoming presidential election, former President Trump leads the current President Biden in potential voter preferences, as indicated by a recent national survey from Emerson College Polling, published on Thursday.

As for Biden, his strong lead in the first poll from early April has hardly changed in the course of a month. As per the newly released Emerson College poll, Biden is at 43 percent (- 2 pp), while it seems that Trump’s numbers have remained stable at 46 percent, as reported by The Hill.

Our polling found that 12 percent of the residents had difficulty making up their minds. Contrastively, there was a faceoff in the latter portion of the contest where respondents were urged to pick a candidate that Trump’s supporting base climbed up to 51%, likewise for Biden, who managed to secure 48% of the votes from these undecided voters.

The inclusion of independent candidates altered the landscape, diminishing Trump’s support to 44 percent and Biden’s to 40 percent. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. garnered 8 percent support, while another 8 percent remained undecided, and 1 percent backed Cornel West.

Concerning the issues influencing voter opinion, the economy and immigration took center stage. Seventy percent of respondents expressed the belief that the cost of living is escalating, with a notable preference for Trump over Biden among this group, as indicated by the survey, as per The Hill.

Spencer Kimball, the executive director of Emerson College Polling, noted, “Voters who think the cost of living is rising support Trump over Biden, 56% to 32%. Those who feel the cost of living is easing or staying the same support Biden over Trump, 94% to 6% and 67% to 18%.”

The fact that the Bible contains stories of war is also prominent among the respondents, and 44% of them have a high degree of doubt about getting correct information about the Hamas-Israel war.

Kimball remarked, “Perceptions of receiving accurate war information show a significant split. Biden leads among those who think they are getting accurate information (53% to 36%), while Trump leads among skeptics (53% to 38%). Those unsure are divided, with 44% leaning toward Trump and 42% toward Biden,” according to the reports by The Hill.

This Emerson College Polling survey, conducted from April 16 to 17 among 1308 registered voters, has an error range of 2.6 percent.
