United States: Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson ejected several individuals from a city meeting on Monday, regarding his suggested 2025 budget, due to citizens’ blatant rejection of massive spending for migrants.

More about the news

In his 2025 budget plan, Johnson won the Monday vote, albeit by a very thin margin, whereby the mayor had to call security to remove residents from the hall to open a way for voting council members.

It was only through six weeks of debate that Johnson was able to garner the 26 votes needed to support the budget plan; the opposition was able to oust the USD 300 million proposed property tax.

The plan also incorporates a USD 40 Million short term loan that enables the city to postpone repayment of the amount often seen as immoral by most of the protesters.

Several complaints were issued

“You caused all this money to go to illegal immigrants,” one resident told Johnson during the public comment period. “Anything that you all pass is not genuine,” one complainant said.

Additionally, another resident blamed Johnson for failing to “protect the people of Chicago from invasion.”

“He wants to pull a $40 million line of credit and put the city in even more debt,” another resident said. “It’s your fault because you gave half of the money to illegals,” it continued.

There were complaints that Johnson hired so many staffers and offered huge salaries to all of them.

Chicago reporter William Kelly, who spoke to Fox News, said that Johnson has more than 100 staff members and all of them has a six-figure salary.

As per kelly, “The vice mayor, a guy named Alderman Burnett, convicted of bank robbery, armed robbery, spent time in jail, he’s getting paid in addition to his aldermanic salary almost half a mil to be ‘vice mayor,’ which essentially has no duties or responsibilities other than waiting to possibly become mayor if something were to happen to Mayor Johnson,” Fox News reported.

The dissatisfaction with Johnson’s immigration policies has also gotten the attention of President-elect Trump’s incoming government.

Tom Homan, Trump’s pick for a border control leader in the new administration, declared that Chicago is on the list of cities that will first suffer deportations.

“Chicago is in trouble because your mayor sucks and your governor sucks. And we’re going to start right here in Chicago, Illinois,” Homan added.

“Now, if your Chicago mayor doesn’t want to help, he can step aside. But if he impedes us, if he knowingly harbors or conceals an illegal alien, I will prosecute him,” he warned.
