United States: The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating a series of tragic events that resulted in three deaths, including a six-month-old baby.

Authorities are currently probing potential links between the deaths of an infant girl discovered beside a bustling freeway; a man found deceased in a suburban residence, and a woman who perished in a single-car collision.

Law enforcement officers stumbled upon the infant, estimated to be approximately six months old, alongside a nine-year-old girl on Interstate 405 in Culver City at approximately 4:30 am local time on Monday, April 8, 2024.

The younger girl had sustained unspecified injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, situated roughly 10 miles (16km) west of downtown LA, according to California Highway Patrol officer Frank Salas.

The older girl sustained moderate injuries and required hospitalization.

One girl was discovered on the motorway shoulder, while the other was found on the roadway, according to Sky’s US partner NBC News.

Officer Salas additionally noted that a 911 caller had reported spotting a black vehicle in the vicinity where the girls were discovered, although it remains unclear if the children were associated with the vehicle.

Shortly after, at around 7:30 am, authorities responded to a suburban residence in the Woodland Hills neighborhood, approximately 25 miles (42km) northwest of downtown LA, following reports of an unresponsive man in his thirties.

Emergency medical experts pronounced him deceased at the scene, and the police are investigating the matter as a possible homicide.

Subsequently, it was reported that authorities were also looking into a single-car crash involving a black vehicle around 5 am in Redondo Beach, approximately 20 miles (32km) southwest of downtown LA, which claimed the life of the female driver.

On Monday afternoon, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that its detectives were collaborating with the California Highway Patrol concerning the incident involving the two children and suspected it was linked to the homicide investigation at the apartment.

Reports indicate that the vehicle collided with a tree.

Authorities are currently working to ascertain any potential connection between the single-car crash and the aforementioned incidents.
