United States: Just after he debated with Vice President Kamala Harris, the former President, Donald J. Trump, posted on Truth Social, “That was my best Debate, EVER, especially since it was THREE ON ONE!”

In private conversations with aides and associates, Trump insisted the same thing during the immediate aftermath of the debate, he said, according to three people who requested anonymity to describe what he was telling them, the New York Times reported.
Ahead of the Trump-Biden debate scheduled for late June, Trump’s camp advised him that he may wish to go into the spin room afterward.

But he dismissed it, and after his great performance that night, he did not want to go to the spin room, understanding that his victory over the enfeebled president was so comprehensive that he could just sit and watch the press destroy Mr. Biden.
However, his spinning on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, which was full of aggression, one could say that he realized his performance was not the best.
What are Trump’s allies saying?
The day after the debate between Mr. Trump and Ms. Harris, his subordinates and supporters were loudest in their praise of his performance in the debate, although several of them admitted to the author in a private conversation that the former president had seemed embarrassed against the backdrop of the debate with Mr. Biden.
The New York Times reports stated, however, there is an exception, coming from a recent endorser of Trump, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who said, “Vice President Harris clearly won the debate in terms of her delivery, her polish, her organization, and her preparation,” while adding that while Mr. Trump “wins” on substance, “he didn’t tell that story.”
Some of his allies decided to go public, blaming his debate preppers rather than Mr. Trump. And yet, at the same time, the supporters who are close to him also hoped that one bad night would not be much damage for an unpredictable, norm-breaking presidential candidate who has had dozens, if not hundreds, of bad nights in the past nine years.
His team, although, expected a flood of adverse media a couple of days after the debate and for this to perhaps give Ms. Harris a slight, short-lived uptick in polling.
