United States: When election day was just two months away, and with Alabama beginning to mail early ballots within hours on Wednesday, the debate between VP Harris and the former president provided a glimpse into the tumultuous presidential race.
About the debate
During the debate, the vice president appeared to struggle a bit sometimes when caught off guard. However, she gave the most dominating performance of her political life.
Trump, who entered into the debate firmly believing he’d prove boxing champ Mike Tyson’s maxim that “everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth,” was himself hit multiple times and barely got to throw any jabs in return, CNN reported.

Voters wanted to know more about Harris
This was especially true when, in one poll, where one-third of the voters said they wanted to learn more about Harris and when the vice president’s performance seemed to build on the appeal.
Trump, for his part, did not bother to reverse his dystopian agenda to those core swing state voters who will determine the outcome of the election.
Sometimes, he could not even relinquish the first term of his presidency and, at other times, appeared to prefer engaging with his former opponent, President Joe Biden, CNN reported.
Debate victories outcomes
Sometimes, it takes days or weeks for debate to influence the general electorate and for the impressions developed to really sink in.
Those who perform well in the debate do not necessarily end up being the presidents. Unlike Trump in 2016, who was assessed to have lost debates, or President George W. Bush in 2004, who was also considered to have lost debates, the latter won the presidency.
While the Democrats could have celebrated the performance given by Harris, the audiences at times evaluate the debate based on partisanship.
